Here’s my slate

CC: Hi, my name is Lauren Marchand x6

My vocal ability spans a few genres, and I love a musical challenge.

I’m classically trained first! I’ve interpreted Italian, German, French, Spanish, and English. I studied Classical Voice at the Manhattan School of Music in their Pre-College Program for five years.

I’ve been pursuing Musical Theatre since I was ten, and my first show was Annie! I am currently a junior at NYU Steinhardt in the Vocal Performance Program, pursuing a Bachelor of Music in Musical Theatre.

Contemporary/Rock music holds a special place in my heart. I’ve sung in several bands covering my favorites: Journey, Billy Joel, Phil Collins, and more. I’m drawn to voices with incredible agility and a certain uniqueness, and you hear it all the time in Rock music. I’ll never tire of voices like Chris Cornell, Steve Perry, Layne Staley, and Sting.

I love reading thrillers, being crafty, exploring the city, and spending quality time with my loved ones! I’m a Sagittarius, and am a firm believer that everything happens for a reason. What will be will be.

My parents are my support system, and my younger brother is my best friend. We named our dog after Ozzy Osbourne!

Singing has always been more than a hobby for me, it makes me who I am. I come from a lively Cuban, Puerto Rican, and French Canadian family. Music was an integral part of my upbringing. Growing up, I was encouraged to sing my heart out, try other instruments, and listen to all musical genres.

Broadway shows are a train ride away as a native New Yorker. The first show my parents took me to was Disney’s The Little Mermaid when I was three years old. The joy and thrill of watching a live performance sparked something in me that I will always chase. We saw The Lion King soon after at the Minskoff Theater.

In 2023, I won “Best Actress” at the Jimmy Awards. Standing on the Minskoff Stage doing what I love felt like a homecoming. I am so grateful for the immense opportunities this award has given me.
